Clear Street Completes UK and European Equities Build with London Stock Exchange Clearing Membership

LONDON, Sept. 17, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Clear Street (“Clear Street” or “the Company”), a financial infrastructure technology firm on a mission to give every sophisticated investor access to every asset in every market, today announced that its UK business is now providing execution, clearing and financing in UK and European equities, following its admission as a General Clearing Member of the London Stock Exchange.

Clear Street launched in the UK with FCA authorization in December 2024, and joined the London Metal Exchange as a Category 1 ring-dealing member in the same month as one of eight dealing members on the LME floor. Since then, it has added equities execution across high touch, low touch and algorithmic trading, synthetic and cash prime brokerage, as well as securities financing.

Uri Cohen, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder, said,  “I’m proud of the progress our UK team has made since receiving our license, as we extend our reach across European capital markets. As markets move towards round-the-clock trading, we believe that the firms that win will be the ones holding the whole trade lifecycle themselves and giving clients a single view of their global business.”

The Company joined LCH EquityClear, the pan-European central counterparty for equities, exchange traded products and equity equivalents, as a General Clearing Member in July 2026, and was admitted as a Member Firm and General Clearing Member of the London Stock Exchange with effect from September 3, 2026. Clear Street now clears its own UK and European equity business directly, rather than through a third-party clearer, with UK, European and US positions held on one ledger.

Alex Lawton, Chief Executive Officer of Clear Street UK and Europe, said, “Clients want London execution that aligns with their US book and risk view. Holding the clearing ourselves is what lets us provide that, rather than being forced to reconcile to someone else’s at the close.”

The UK build runs alongside Clear Street’s European operations. The Company received authorization from the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets in April 2026 to operate as an investment firm, establishing a licensed presence across the European Economic Area.

Globally, Clear Street serves more than 900 institutional clients, trades an average of $33.6 billion of US equities a day, around 3.4% of US equity market volume and holds 57 exchange and clearing memberships.
