902 Church in Kinston Builds Stronger Faith Through Small Groups and Prayer

Prayer and Community at the Heart of 902 Church

Kinston, United States – July 24, 2025 / 902 Church /

At 902 Church, we believe our strength as a church family is largely built on prayer and authentic relationships. These help us grow spiritually, stay grounded in God’s truth, and walk together through every season. As we look ahead, we’re excited to launch two powerful opportunities to deepen our faith and connection with others: 21 Days of Prayer and the fall session of 902 Groups sign-ups.

Seeking God First: 21 Days of Prayer

From August 4 through August 24, we’re setting aside intentional time as a church to seek God in prayer during 21 Days of Prayer. The sanctuary will be open Monday through Friday from 6:30 am to 9:00 am. Whether you’re new to prayer or have been walking with God for years, this is a time to slow down, reflect, and realign your heart with His.

What To Expect Each Morning

Stepping into 902 Church on those mornings, you’ll find a peaceful and inviting space designed for reflection and connecting with God. We will begin each morning with a worship song and corporate prayer with a specific focus, and then you will have time to pray as the Lord leads. You can come for just a few minutes or stay the full time. There’s no pressure, just a quiet space to connect with God.

Why This Time Is Important

Prayer is the foundation of everything we do. It’s how we bring our praise, worries, hopes, and requests before God, and it’s where we make space to listen for His direction. We believe God hears us, speaks to us, and meets us in powerful ways when we take time to pray. These 21 days aren’t just a tradition. They’re an essential part of preparing our hearts and our church for what God wants to do in our lives individually and in the life of the church.

We hope you’ll join us each morning! You can get more details about the 21 Days of Prayer on our website!

Finding Your People: 902 Groups Sign-Ups

On Sunday, August 17, we’ll open sign-ups for our fall semester of 902 Groups. These small groups are one of the best ways to build community and grow in your faith at 902 Church. Life is better when we live it together, and our groups are designed to be places where you can be known, encouraged, and supported.

Why We Do 902 Groups

We were never meant to walk through life alone. Whether you’re navigating a major life change, exploring faith for the first time, or simply looking for deeper friendships, 902 Groups offer a place where real life and faith come together. These groups aren’t just about Bible study, although there is that. They’re also about doing life side by side with people who genuinely care.

How 902 Groups Work

Our groups meet regularly in homes, at the church, and in local spots around the community, and are made up of people of all ages and backgrounds. Some are built around life stages, like groups for young adults, parents, or couples, while others are based on interests or study topics. No matter your stage of life or circumstances, or your schedule, there’s likely a group that fits you.

If you’re not sure where to start, our team is happy to help you find the right fit. We encourage you to take that first step and sign up! You may find that one simple “yes” leads to a lasting connection and spiritual growth you didn’t expect. Click HERE to get more information on the different groups available and to register.

Growing in Faith and Friendship

We often say at 902 Church that we grow better together, and that couldn’t be more true when it comes to small groups. These are the places where deep relationships form, where people pray for one another, walk through challenges together, and celebrate life’s victories. They’re where you’ll find people to check in on you, laugh with you, and challenge you to keep growing.

Joining a group is one of the easiest but most meaningful ways to go deeper in your walk with God. You’ll be encouraged, challenged, and surrounded by a community that’s committed to helping each other become more like Jesus.

Now Is the Right Time

Fall is a season of fresh starts, and that makes it the perfect time to step into something new, whether that’s carving out time each morning to pray or committing to community through a small group. You don’t have to wait for the perfect moment or know exactly what to expect. Just show up, take a step, and let God do the rest.

Our hope is that as we close out the summer, engaging in 21 Days of Prayer, and launch 902 Groups in the fall, we’ll grow closer to God and each other. We believe God has big things in store for this season, and we’re excited to see how He moves in and through our church family.

Take Your Next Step

Whether you’re looking to deepen your prayer life or find your people in a small group, now is a great time to take the next step. Come join us for 21 Days of Prayer. And be sure to check out the 902 Group sign-ups on August 17. We’d love to help you get connected.

You don’t have to do this alone. At 902 Church, there’s a place for you, and we’d love to walk alongside you as we grow in faith together. Visit the website or call the church office at 252-522-0997 for more information and to learn how to get connected.
